Yesterday, Trump announced a cease-fire with Iran that would open the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has not ceased firing, and the strait remains mostly closed.

This is just another of life's great comedowns.

There's a cease-fire for now, but there won't be an end to the larger war until the Islamic Republic falls.

Madman theory doesn't work against other madmen.

Count on more wild fluctuations in the global economy as observers grapple with what this cease-fire entails, or even if it persists at all.

War is a deadly serious business, and should not be waged except in that spirit.
