U.S. Central Command said Monday that American forces intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting bases in Kuwait, further testing an already fragile ceasefire.

U.S. forces intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting American personnel in Kuwait late Sunday, according to CENTCOM, as Kuwait condemned Tehran's "heinous and repeated" attacks.

The latest attacks further undermine what remains of a U.S.-Iran ceasefire, and will likely add strain to ongoing efforts to reach a deal that will end the war.

Kuwait activated its air defences after what its foreign ministry later described as a 'heinous Iranian attack'.

Kuwait, which hosts US forces, says its defence systems intercepted missiles and drones amid sirens across the country.
