The New York State Department of Health issued a health advisory about the emergence of a new strain of mpox (formerly monkeypox). The person had recently traveled from Africa.
The New York State Department of Health confirmed Tuesday that it had detected a case of clade Ib monkeypox, a similar strain that causes a rash on the hands, feet, chest face, mouth and/or genitals.
