Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Bowen Byram has agreed to a $75 million, six-year contract extension with his new team.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed veteran Ilya Mikheyev, 31, away from the Chicago Blackhawks, adding a tenacious player to their forward depth with a four-year deal that carries an average annual value of $3.85 million against the salary cap.
Another veteran is reportedly on his way to Chicago.
Mikheyev, 31, was an unrestricted free agent who carried a cap hit of $4,037,500 with the Chicago Blackhawks last season.
This will be Cole's 10th NHL team.
