Verizon on Thursday said that it would begin issuing $20 credits to the accounts of customers impacted by Wednesday's nearly day-long cellular service problems.
At its peak, the website downdetector showed nearly 173,000 outage reports, as the disruption also impacted users of other networks like T-Mobile and AT&T.
An investigation into the nationwide Verizon outage on Wednesday may have found the problem, revealing an issue in a single state may have started the crash.
Verizon confirms a New Jersey server failure caused the massive nationwide outage. Officials ruled out cyberattacks as the carrier offers customers a £16 ($20) apology credit.
