With the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, Houthi rebels in Yemen have stopped missile attacks on ships in the Red Sea and have also released a shipping crew held hostage for over a year.
An explosion forced the crew of a Hong Kong-flagged container ship to abandon the vessel Tuesday near the coast of Yemen, shipping industry officials said.
The rebels said earlier this week they would limit their attacks on ships in the Red Sea corridor and released the 25-member crew of the Galaxy Leader, a ship they seized back in November 2023, as the Gaza ceasefire took hold.
