Amazon has sent out emails to some of its users, with a warning that it's discontinuing support for Kindle ereaders and Fire tables released in 2012 or earlier.

Since Amazon revealed it's stopping support for pre-2012 Kindle devices, it's caused uproar among the eReader community.

Amazon is apparently removing support for older Kindle devices - which means users will no longer be able to buy new books on them - but new devices are on sale for the next few hours.

Set to happen on May 20, Amazon is already emailing users of pre-2012 Kindles about their devices being sunsetted.
