Packers-Seahawks Sunday Night Football Open Thread: Time to learn what Seattle really is

This is a hard one to root for

If you were a San Francisco 49ers fan in the 90s, you might not care about this game tonight. It’s too hard to watch. That’s because the Green Bay Packers are traveling to face the Seattle Seahawks. 49ers fans from the 90s remember the Packers bouncing the 49ers in the playoffs a few times. That made the 49ers being the ones who bounced the Packers some two decades later repeatedly all the more satisfying.

This year, the 49ers traveled to Green Bay to face the Packers and were thoroughly thumped. Brandon Allen was the starting quarterback due to Brock Purdy’s injury, which is already a bad sign. The offense couldn’t get out of its own way, and the defense let the Packers run all over them. Right now, the Packers are in third place within the NFC North. The first-place Detroit Lions lost today, but with three games separating them from the Packers, it might be the clump of playoff teams from the NFC that the Packers are trying to stay ahead of. Their nine wins right now nets them the sixth seed, but the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals are right behind them with eight and seven wins, respectively.

Meanwhile, we don’t know what we have with the Seahawks. They have certainly turned things around from an earlier misstep where a win was sandwiched between a three-game losing streak and a two-game skid. Some of the 1-2’s may tell you they are a Super Bowl team; we’ll see about that. The next two weeks will tell us a lot about the Seattle Seahawks. After this week, they have the Minnesota Vikings. If they can win those? They have shown they are dangerous. Lose them both? Have fun in the playoffs.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Packers favored by 2.5 points. Take the Packers. 2.5 points is plenty enough for them to cover in this game. I’m still not sold on Seattle. The over-under is set at 47.5 points. Take the under. I’m not confident with this, but I think this should be under 47 points when it’s all said and done. I think a 24-21 Green Bay win is what we are looking at.

I’m a 49ers fan from the 90s. This is hard to root for.
